2NE1 Adds Two more Fanboys on their list

Designer Richard Chai is inspired by 2NE1?

Richard Chai, a Korean American designer born in New York, is a self-professed 2NE1 fan! In his interview with Singapore newspapaper, Zao Bao, when asked about his Korean roots, he confessed to be a fan of 2NE1 and Big Bang and that the most Korean thing about him would be his personality and work ethic.

And this is not the first time he professed his love for the girls. When asked about his lat year’s summer collection (via industrie) he answered,

Tons of color, kind of an eye explosion” is how he describes the clothes, a break from last year’s more sombre palette. Chai’s been loving Korean pop, like the girl band 2NE1(look them up!) and he’s also more confident than ever before. We find him amid castings, taking a break on the fire escape.

But wait.. just who is Richard Chai?

Hailed as one of the prodigies in the fashion world, he entered the prestigious Parsons School of Design at the mere age of 13. Upon graduation he drew sketches for Lanvin and also designed for Armani’s A/X and Donna Karan. In 1998, he was appointed as the Chief Designer for Marc Jacobs and helped launched the highly successful Marc by Marc Jacobs line. Coupled with his experience as Chief Designer for TSE, his wealth of experience helped Chai with establishing his own style for his brand, Richard Chai, which is known for having an sporty leisure style with a classic design and also well-constructed silhouettes.
